The Monkey Patch

Welcome to The Monkey Patch, the blog site of Kristen Hilty.

I wish I had one word to describe what this blog is all about. I used write for children, mainly picture books and short stories for magazines. This blog was born out of that pursuit. (So if you scroll down far enough, you'll see all sorts of blogs about writing and think to yourself, "Wha...?")

Lately all my creative energy is spent at Common Ground Community Building, an ecumenical project of First United Methodist Church and other Jefferson City congregations. It's aims are to foster relationship among its partner churches and to improve the lives of people in the immediate community.

After almost two years working there, I'm finding the stories I have heard are weeping from my pores. If you care to listen, I'll share some of them here, and hopefully find grace and hope and peace for myself in the process. Plus, it's an excuse to write again!
